Franco Saavedra on experiencing his “heart smiling”
Franco has volunteered with Outdoor Outreach since June 2019. Working primarily with our high-impact programs through Rady Children’s Hospital and San Diego County Program Department, he has already become a huge asset to the OO team!
Franco knows that connecting with nature can have a profound impact on one’s life, so he’s made it his mission to encourage youth to develop that connection and learn to appreciate and protect our natural environment. His time at OO has made him even more passionate about bringing joy to youth who need it the most. When asked how it feels to see a participant discover what they’re capable of, he describes it as a feeling of pure elation or simply: “my heart smiles.”
Franco believes that the outdoors bring out authenticity in those who seek it. His personal favorite outdoor activity is to boulder up to the top of a mountain and mediate at the peak.
