COURAGE.
It takes a lot of courage to take on the challenge of climbing North America’s tallest peak – Denali.
Andy Paul, Joe Bailey and Kelly Soohoo teamed up for an attempt at Denali this year but had to end their trip short due to some unexpected health concerns of one of their teammates. Joe ended up getting HAPE (High Altitude Pulmonary Edema) at about 14,000ft. Joe was transported via a heli-evac to prevent any further complications and get him medical coverage. Once Joe was evacuated from the mountain, Andy and Kelly descended with the rest of the gear.
Even though the summit was not completed, we are happy to report that all three climbers are safe. We are very proud of their efforts!
Their Classy fundraising campaign page generated $650 in donations to Outdoor Outreach! These funds will be used for one local day trip for up to 14 youth!
Thank you Andy, Joe, and Kelly!
